Train accessibility

The most of trains operating in Lombardy belong to Trenord company, Trenitalia company and Italo company.
The number of trains that reach the requirements of accessibility and usability for people with disabilities is growing steadily. However, there are still railway carriages standing who do not fulfill these standards and which can be not taken independently by travelers with disabilities.

For further informations about Trenord trains, you can visit www.trenord.it. In the last page of the document there is a list where are shown the lines whose trains always provide access to people with disabilities and reduced mobility. For all the remaining lines (not in the list) Trenord suggests to check the Assistance service prior to depart.

About Trenitalia, you can check the informations about your train on the website www.trenitalia.com. Select your own train, and check if your train offer coaches equipped for wheelchair passengers. Further general informations about the accessibility of Trenitalia’s trains are avvailable at this link

On every train managed by Italo you can find two places for wheelchair passengers into the coach number 8 (Smart journey ambience). This two places are located close to the toilet dedicated to people with disability. All the toilets are provided  with signage for the visually impaired persons and the numbering of seats is also in Braille. For more information: www.italotreno.it under "Disabled Assistance".

In case of doubts about the accessibility of trains we should always contact the assistance services for passengers with reduced mobility.
